Why a service built around UC

UC's clinical process has its own vocabulary and its own calendar. Preceptor packets are due on fixed Fridays months before the term. The Preceptor Application wants the student's section done first. NP tracks need 20% of hours under a nurse practitioner, midwifery needs half under a CNM or CM, and each track has its own employer rule. Hours live in eMedley, Critical Requirements in CastleBranch, and a handful of large systems must be cleared with your CSC before you approach them at all.

A general preceptor search can miss those details, and every miss costs weeks you may not have before the packet deadline. We built this service, and this site, around UC's rules, so each search starts from what your Clinical Site Coordinator will actually check. By the time you write to us, we already know the forms, the Fridays and your track's preceptor rules.

What we do

• Look for a clinician and site in person near you that match your UC track's population, setting and hour rules, as close to home as your area allows.
• Check each candidate against UC's preceptor requirements for your track before anything is submitted, including the NP-hours minimum and your track's employer rule.
• Help your preceptor with their part of the Preceptor Application, including license states, certification body and, for midwifery, a CV.
• Gather the site details UC's coordinators need: the administrative contact for the Educational Affiliation Agreement and the onboarding platform the site uses.
• Stay reachable through the term, and start looking again if a preceptor pulls out.

How we keep this site accurate

The pages here are written from UC's own current sources: the graduate Clinical Planning page, each track's clinical requirements PDF, the May 2026 Clinical Preceptor Guide, the 2026–27 Student Handbook and the Critical Requirements page. At the foot of every page you'll find the UC documents behind it and when we last compared the two.

Where UC's documents disagree, we say so instead of picking one. The preceptor-packet email address differs between the application and the checklist, the midwifery and FNP FAQs give different approval windows, and PMHNP course numbers differ between the curriculum guide and the clinical requirements. In those cases, your CSC's answer is the one to follow. If you spot something on this site that no longer matches UC, tell us through the contact page and we'll recheck it.

Who we work with

We work with students across UC's graduate tracks. That includes the online MSN programs in family, adult-gerontology primary care, nurse-midwifery and women's health, as well as PMHNP DNP and certificate students, adult-gerontology and pediatric acute care students (where UC limits admission to Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana residents), post-master's certificate students, BSN-to-DNP students, and Systems Leadership and Nursing Education students whose practicums need a preceptor. RN-to-BSN students can ask as well, though UC doesn't publish who arranges its direct-care experience. The programs hub gathers each track's rules.

A placement advisor reads each request and replies with what a UC-ready search would involve for you. If going ahead makes sense, you'll have a written quote to read before agreeing to anything, and saying no is always an option.
