Use the form on this page to send your UC track, course number, term, state and the hours you still need. A placement advisor reads it and replies with what a search looks like for your track and timeline, and how we'd use the time you have. The chat, WhatsApp and text buttons work too.

Send your placement request

Your track, course, term and state, plus anything we should know. A placement advisor replies with next steps.

By sending this you agree we may reply by email, call or text about your placement. Message and data rates may apply; reply STOP to opt out. Privacy

Numbered steps. What happens after you send it: 1 We read it against UC's limits; 2 A placement advisor replies; 3 You get a written quote; 4 The search begins.

What to put in your request

The form asks for your name, email, phone, program, clinical start and city and state. The message box is where the detail goes, and a few specifics there save a round of questions:

  • The course number exactly as UC writes it, such as ANNP8072, ANW8062 or ANPS8028, and the term it runs.
  • Hours still needed and what they must cover, for example pediatric hours for FNP or intrapartum time for midwifery.
  • Where you'll train, if that differs from where you live, and whether your RN license covers that state.
  • Preceptors you've already used or have in progress, since several tracks limit repeats.
  • Where you work, because each track treats employer sites differently.
  • Anything your CSC has told you, such as a site to avoid or a system you must clear with them first.

If the packet deadline for your term has already passed, or the term has started, put that in your first line.

Good to have ready

You don't need any of this to send the form, but having it nearby makes the first conversation quicker and the search more accurate.

  • Your track's clinical requirements PDF from UC's Clinical Planning page, which sets out the settings, preceptor types and hours that count.
  • Where you stand on Critical Requirements. CastleBranch package purchases are paused for now, according to UC's Critical Requirements page, so mention it if you haven't ordered yet.
  • Any emails from your Clinical Site Coordinator about options, former preceptors or alumni in your state.
  • Which days of the week you can realistically give to clinicals. UC asks preceptors for one to two days a week, so your availability shapes who fits.

If your course falls under a track with a residency limit, such as the AGACNP programs, confirm your state of residence too.

What happens after you send it

  1. We read it against UC's limits. Excluded states, residency-only tracks, your track's preceptor rules and the time left before your packet deadline or week 2.
  2. A placement advisor replies. Expect questions if something's missing, or an outline of what a search would involve if the picture is clear.
  3. You get a written quote. If it makes sense to go ahead, the scope and terms come in writing. Nothing starts until you've read them and agreed.
  4. The search begins. When a clinician is interested, we pass on the details and you speak with them yourself before anything goes to UC.

If time is tight, or UC's rules shape what's possible, you'll hear that up front, along with the route that can still work. The how it works page covers the full path from here to your first logged hour.

Chat, WhatsApp and text

The chat button on every page opens a conversation with the placement desk. It suits quick questions: whether your state is open to UC clinicals, whether a type of clinician can precept your course, what a quote would depend on. Your browser remembers the conversation, so a return visit picks it up where you left off.

The WhatsApp and text buttons open a message from your phone with a short note that you found us through this site. The buttons carry our number for you, so there's nothing to copy. For anything longer, such as a full list of courses and hours, the form is better, because everything arrives in one place and nothing gets split across threads.

Questions only UC can answer

Some questions are UC's to answer, and going straight to UC gets you the quickest reply. Your Clinical Site Coordinator is the person to ask whether a preceptor was approved, where your packet or affiliation agreement stands, and which email address your preceptor should use for the packet, since UC's own documents list more than one.

State forms for California, North Dakota and Wyoming go to constateauth@uc.edu, and eMedley account problems go to conemedley@uc.edu. Your CSC can also confirm which state forms apply to where you'll train. Withdrawals, drop dates and refunds are questions for UC too, and whether a setting suits your course, or how your practicum is graded, sits with your course faculty and program director. The Clinical Site Coordinator page explains who handles what at UC.

How we handle what you send

We ask only for what a search needs: your track, course, term, location, hours and any preceptors you already have. A placement advisor uses it to plan your search and to prepare the preceptor and site details your CSC will review.

What you send through the form or chat is handled as our privacy page describes, including how to ask for it to be deleted. Your messages with UC stay yours: anything UC needs comes from you or your preceptor, and we help you get it complete before it goes.

If you're still weighing your options, send your questions first and a placement advisor will talk them through. Our page weighing your own search against your CSC's options and paid help lays out the routes side by side.

Questions UC students ask

How quickly will someone reply?

A placement advisor answers each request personally, and the reply time depends on how much checking a request needs first. If a deadline is close, put it in your first line with the date, so your request is read with that urgency in mind.

Can I get in touch if I already have a preceptor?

Yes. Many UC tracks need a second or third preceptor over the program, and you may also want help with the site details UC's coordinators ask for, or a backup in case a first choice falls through. Tell us who you have, which course they cover and what's still missing.

What if I live in a state UC excludes?

UC has no graduate clinical authorization in AZ, LA, MA, NY, OR, RI or TN, and its DNP programs add WA, so clinicals have to happen in another state. If you're moving, or can train in an open state where your RN license is valid, tell us where and we'll plan the search there, so a preceptor is lined up once you're somewhere UC allows. Confirm the plan with your program first.

I'm a clinician. Should I use this form?

Yes. Pick "I'm a preceptor (not a student)" in the program list and tell us your specialty, your license state and roughly how many days you could host a student. Our page on precepting UC students covers what UC will ask of you first.

We check these pages against UC's own sources. Your Clinical Site Coordinator, your course faculty and UC's current documents have the final word.

Hand us the search. Keep your packet deadline.

Tell us your UC track, where you live and which term your next practicum starts. We look for a preceptor and site that fit UC's rules for your track, and help you get the Preceptor Application and agreement details right.

  • Matched to your track's population, setting and hour rules
  • Checked against UC's preceptor requirements before your CSC sees it
  • Aimed at UC's packet deadline, not just the first day of term
