UC programs open to New Hampshire students

The Clinical Planning page authorizes UC for clinical activity in New Hampshire. Admission limits, not the state, decide which tracks are out of reach.

Southern New Hampshire and the Boston pull

The Boston-Cambridge-Newton metro reaches about 459,000 New Hampshire residents, and the Manchester-Nashua area holds roughly 433,000 more. Looking south for a preceptor feels natural from there, but Massachusetts is closed to UC clinicals. A practice a short drive past the border can't host your hours, so keep the site in New Hampshire or in open neighbors like Vermont and Maine.

Preceptors and the state's own rules

AANP lists New Hampshire as full practice. UC's tests still apply: a graduate degree at the master's level or beyond, national certification, a full year of practice in the role and an unencumbered New Hampshire license, plus at least 20% of NP-track hours alongside an NP in your population. UC doesn't accept physician assistants as preceptors here. UC's preceptor requirements spells out each track.

The Board's rule for outside programs, Nur 602.15(j), is aimed at pre-licensure education. Such programs register intent with the Board, give six weeks' notice of every placement and file an annual Form A, a Part B per rotation and, for each preceptor, a Clinical Preceptor Agreement. New Hampshire's licensing office places post-licensure programs, RN-BSN and RN-MSN for example, outside the Board's regulation. One copy of the rule shows a January 2026 expiration, and whether it was readopted wasn't confirmed. UC lists no New Hampshire form.

The background check and your license

UC's 2026-27 Student Handbook puts New Hampshire on its list of states needing a supplemental background check for clinicals. As with other added checks, the cost is yours, and your CSC can tell you which check to order. UC background checks covers the standard CastleBranch pieces.

New Hampshire entered the compact on January 19, 2018. Hold a New Hampshire license, or a multistate one issued by the compact state you call home, and you meet UC's rule that your RN license be valid at the clinical site. The APRN Compact hasn't been adopted here, so NP preceptors need New Hampshire's own license.
